A fifth lobe, called the insular lobe or insular cortex, is found deep within the brain and is difficult to see without magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). It is connected to the other parts of the brain and their functions (Chauhan, Rathawa, Jethwa, et al., 2021; Kortz & Lillehei, 2023).
